There Goes the Neighbourhood inaugurates Castor and Indigo + Madder’s new Fitzrovia spaces. It is a jointly conceived group exhibition in two halves, each gallery is developing their contribution individually as part of a wider narrative.

The exhibition explores ideas related to community, urbanity, otherness and the experience of marginality in modern life. The ‘neighbourhood’ is explored not only through concepts of distance, boundaries and space but also as a more extensive, flexible interconnected space of belonging. It looks at evolving communities, debunks ideas of shared territories and association that are exclusionary but still hold sway, and celebrates subversive and rebellious non-place/de-territorialised concepts of networking and belonging. The tension between self and other, the central and marginal, as well as the potential of liminal spaces is examined in multiple ways.
