Rajyashri Goody

Originally a part of various references to food in five different books by Dalit writers, these ‘recipes’ have been extracted, interpreted, and transformed in an attempt to contextualise and complicate the notion of cookbooks. These books, an ode to Dalit literature and Goody’s own roots, also comment on the restrictive nature of cookbooks, particularly in light of Dalit food practices.

Rajyashri Goody (b. 1990), lives and works in Pune. She holds a BA in Sociology from Fergusson College, Pune (2011), and an MA in Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester (2013). Goody’s solo show Eat With Great Delight, was at the Clark House Initiative, Mumbai in 2018. Her group exhibitions include Revelations: Reclaiming South Asian Narratives, Harvard University, Cambridge, 2018 and World Next Door, Khoj International, New Delhi, December 2017. Goody has been awarded fellowships and residencies by the ISCP, New York, 2018; Khoj International, New Delhi, 2017 and Harvard University South Asia Institute, Cambridge in 2018.
